"Seth is an extraordinarily talented professional and seasoned educator whose vision will enhance our school's prominence as one of the finest Jewish day schools in the nation," said Sam Wyman, president of the TVT Board of Directors. The Board's unanimous selection of Rabbi Linfield culminates a seven-month national search process for the pluralistic, 600-student college preparatory school. TVT is the fifth largest Jewish day school in the United States and a recognized cultural and educational institution for Orange County's Jewish community. Rabbi Seth Linfield arrives at TVT from Lehrman Community Day School in Miami Beach where he has been Head of School for the past four years. Previously, he served as Head of School at the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union in New Jersey. He has earned a reputation as a respected Jewish education leader skilled at initiating innovative educational programs, building a positive school culture, and directing volunteer-professional partnerships which exceed annual development goals. The background and accomplishments of Rabbi Linfield depict the life of a modern Renaissance man. When just 19 years old, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from New York University with a degree in mathematics. He went on to graduate from Stanford Law School and then to attain partnership at a major Midwest law firm, Barnes & Thornburg LLP. While an attorney, he also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza Graduate School of Business. Eventually his lifelong passion for Jewish education came to the forefront. While still a practicing lawyer, Rabbi Linfield completed the Day School Leadership Training Institute, a post-graduate Executive MBA-style program at the Jewish Theological Seminary, with the support of the AVI CHAI Foundation, which focused on leadership at Jewish day schools. He also concurrently began rabbinic training that led to his semikha/ ordination from HaRav HaGaon Shlomo Koenig of the Yoka Kollel, NY. "I am grateful for the opportunity Tarbut V'Torah has offered me. I have long admired the standards of excellence that TVT regularly attains and am honored to join this outstanding faculty, first rate staff and warm community," said Rabbi Linfield. His goals include enhancing student life, building stronger relationships with all of Orange County's Jewish organizations, expanding the reach of the school's reputation and scope of support, and serving as a spiritual leader and Jewish role model for TVT students. Rabbi Linfield and his wife Deana, whom he met at Stanford where she was also a student, are the parents of four daughters and three sons. Their two oldest children are

attending college Yale University and Stanford University - and their five younger ones will attend TVT. During the search process, Derek Gavshon had served as Acting Head of School. Mr. Gavshon will assume a senior managerial position at TVT and extends his full support to the new Head of School.
