Technical Services has received reports of error codes triggering, relating to the Motors that drive the Developer/Cleaning/Toner systems. In some cases the Motor may not be the cause of the problem. To identify the source of the problem, please follow the troubleshooting procedures on the following pages. For enhancement purposes, the maximum current rating for the fuse on the DLP and CLN Motors has been changed. For Identification purposes, the last digit of the Motor Part Number printed on the Lot No. Label (pictured below) is changed from "0" to "1".

When one of the error codes trigger, follow the troubleshooting procedure below to determine if one of the Motors is the cause of the problem. 1. Remove the related motor and measure the resistance value of the fuse with a Digital Meter. 2. If the resistance value at both ends of the fuse is between 200K and 350k, replace the Motor. (If the resistance value is near 0, the Motor is not the cause of the problem. Please check the Developer Unit, Drum Unit, etc.)

PRECAUTION

It has come to our attention that additional problems can be created when reinstalling a Motor. Error Codes can occur caused by pinched wires. The reported problem involved the DRUM MOTOR M as shown in the graphic below which must be removed first to gain access to the PARTS MOTOR DLP (D). The pinched wires occurred when reinstalling the DRUM MOTOR M. The wire harness is not fully visible unless the Developing Fan Motor 5 (DEVFM5) is removed first. Reference #35 on Page 3. Technical Services recommends removing the Developing Fan Motor before removing the DRUM MOTOR M. Reinstall the parts in the reverse order after replacing the PARTS MOTOR DLP (D) and use caution when installing any other Motor to ensure wires are not pinched.
