INTERNATIONAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES for TEACHERS and ADMINISTRATION STAFF

Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI)

What is ADVETI? It's new. It's different. It's exciting.

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is one of the most exciting, fastest developing cities in the world. A major focus for the government is education leading to an increase in employment opportunities for the national citizens (Emiratis). In April 2007, DET International entered into a 5 year contract with the Abu Dhabi government to establish a Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI). ADVETI is fully funded by the Abu Dhabi Government, and commenced teaching in September 2007. The Institute offers Diploma programs to Emirati students in a range of vocational areas. ADVETI staff is enjoying working in our world class, fully refurbished, state of the art vocational learning facility with access to the latest technology. Whilst English is the language of instruction, it is a second language for all students. Students gain access to intensive English teaching and support, whilst gaining basic vocational skills, particularly in the first semester of their courses. All teachers provide support for the development of vocational English language as part of the program of study. The diploma program offered at ADVETI can be completed in 2 ½ years full time, either by day or evening study. Most of the teachers who have been working at ADVETI since we began last year are from TAFE NSW. They have devised innovative and creative approaches to delivering the study programs that TAFE NSW has developed to meet the needs of UAE government, industry and community. Students have learned new and exciting ways of learning and are acquiring the skills they need to be work ready. ADVETI will commence its second year of operation in September 2008 with an expanded curriculum and increased student enrolments. We require an additional group of dynamic, innovative and dedicated staff to join us to meet this growth and share in this exciting initiative.
