May 2004 Newsletter CONGRATULATIONS TO VALERO ENERGY CORPORATION, WINNER OF THE 2004 INDUSTRIAL ENERGY TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE AWARD.

Valero won the award for its energy efficiency program implemented at the Houston Valero Refinery as part of the Texas Technology Showcase. Valero is now implementing programs throughout its refinery system in the US and Canada. Gary Faagau, Valero Energy Corporation (left), accepts the award from Malcolm Verdict, TAMU.

SOLICITATION OPEN. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is now accepting

applications from U.S. manufacturers to participate in plant assessments that identify opportunities for energy savings, product improvement, and waste reduction. The awards are up to $100,000 on a 50 percent cost-shared basis. Proposals for awards are due July 9, 2004. Download the solicitation from the Texas IOF website at http://texasiof.ces.utexas.edu
