Mark 10:16 Bible Story for children: Focus on: Jesus wants to fellowship with us. He loves us and wants us to spend time with him. (Prayer and service for others) Prop ideas: Fish net. (With 153 Beanie Baby Fish!) Camping equipment.

SAMPLE STORY Jesus is alive. That's what we learned last week. The women who had gone to the tomb saw Jesus alive, his disciples saw him alive and many others saw him alive. Now it was more than a week later. Peter said that he was going out in the boat to fish. (Many of the disciples had been fishermen before they followed Jesus). Six other disciples, Thomas, Nathanael, James, John and two more said they would go with him. They fished all night, but caught NOTHING! Surely they were tired. Jesus stood on the shore and called to the disciples, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they replied. It was early in the morning, so it was not yet bright out. They did not recognize that it was Jesus. Jesus then told them, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will catch some." The disciples did just what Jesus said and they caught so many fish that they were unable to pull it back into the boat! John said to Peter, "Look, it's Jesus on the shore!" Peter was so excited that he jumped into the water to get to the shore. (They were about 100 yards away...that's like a football field). He couldn't wait to be with Jesus. The rest of the disciples followed in the boat, towing the fish in the net behind them. When they landed on shore, they saw Jesus had made breakfast. There was a fire of burning coals cooking

some fish. And he had some bread as well. Jesus gave them each some fish and bread. When they looked at the fish they had caught, they counted 153 large fish. Even though they had caught so many, the net was not torn! It was amazing. Some people call this story the "Miraculous Catch of Fish." The disciples were happy for the great number of fish they had caught. But even more importantly, they were happy for their friendship with Jesus. They were so glad to spend time with him and eat breakfast with him. We can spend time with Jesus by praying, reading the Bible and serving others. Remember our Bible verse for today. Jesus said "I am with you always." Matthew 28:20 FYI Second Session Classes will be:
