SAMPLE STORY Naaman was a commander in the king of Aram's army, an enemy of Israel. He was a great soldier. The king of Aram thought very highly of Naaman because of the success he had against Israel. There was one problem...Naaman had a skin disease called leprosy. It covered his whole body. Naaman's wife had a servant girl from Israel. She loved and worshiped the LORD God. This girl said, "Naaman should go to Samaria and see the prophet Elisha. He will heal him of this disease." Naaman traveled to Samaria. He took with him a lot of money and clothing to give as gifts to Elisha. His servants went with him as well. Elisha had heard that Naaman was coming to see him. As Naaman approached Elisha's home, Elisha did not come out, but instead sent a messenger to meet him. "Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River and your skin will be cleaned." Naaman was upset. He thought that Elisha should have come outside himself, and waved his hand and called on the name of the LORD to heal him. Instead, he sent a servant to tell him to go wash in a river. Why the rivers back home are a lot better than the Jordan. He might as well have stayed home. Fortunately, Naaman's servants were wiser than he. They said, "If the prophet had told you to do something

great, you would have listened and obeyed. Isn't it a greater miracle to do something simple?" Naaman listened to his servants and obeyed Elisha's instructions. He dipped himself in the Jordan River. One time, two times, three, four five, six and then seven times. After the seventh time his skin was healed. It was as smooth and clean as a young boy's skin, just as Elisha's messenger had said. Naaman became a follower of God after this miracle. He praised God, the God of Israel as the only one true God. Naaman knew that it was God who healed him, not the river and not even Elisha. Our Bible verse says, "Give thanks to God." Psalm 136:1 Naaman thanked God for being healed.

Count together as a child dips in the river seven times...on the seventh time quickly wipe off the powder and come out clean.
