Thanks to all of you for making this a great year! As we look back at the wonderful memories and friendships made we can look ahead to many more.


LC and Alice Drake are both native Georgians. LC is from a little town in Madison County called Pocitaligo, which is an Indian name for Sandy Creek. Alice was born in a small town called Nicholson, GA. They both grew up on farms. They met their senior year in high school. He was 17 and she was 15. After the Air Force for LC and college at University of Georgia for Alice, they were married March 26, 1955. They Moved to Marietta, where LC worked at Lockheed for 35 1/2 years before retiring in 1990. While at Lockheed, he was In charge of electronics for C130, V141 and C5 Jet Star, working on test Program was able to live in a lot of cities, West Palm Beach FL, Dover, DE, Atlantic City ,NJ and Palmdalse and Lancaster, CA. on Mojare Desert. Alice taught kindergarten from 1979--1989. She also worked as Bakery Manager for Kroger and Frontier Pies where she learned to bake good food. She still enjoys baking. LC enjoys baseball, basketball and sports. When he was physically able, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. They raised their 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl in Marietta, GA living in the same house 47 years. Their son Barry lives in Kennesaw, daughter Joyce in Canton and son Landon in Marietta. They have 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. They moved to the Lodge October 2007 and are enjoying it very much.

Clubs and Meeting


Be sure to attend our next Resident Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 2 at 2:30pm. See how our Garden Grows! Don't miss the next Gardening Club meeting on Friday, September 19 at 4:00pm. We will be planting new plants in our community box. The Book Club will meet on Friday, September 26 at 4:00pm to discuss "The Divide" by Nicholas Evans.

A new residents luncheon is held every month. This gives new residents the opportunity to meet each other and get acquainted. Invitations are sent out and does require reservations. If someone moves in after invitations have been delivered, they will be invited to the luncheon the following month. The picture to the right is from the August luncheon.

The Bartow County Boot Scooters will be here on Thursday, September 4 at 10:00 am to perform their line dancing routines. You don't want to miss this outstanding performance.

The staff at the Lodge at Bridgemill invites all of our residents to join us at Chesterfield's on Sunday, September 7 at 5:30pm for a very special dinner. We will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary with a surf and turf dinner accompanied by musical entertainment on the harp.

Joseph Stahl is coming to The Lodge at Bridgemill on Thursday, September 11. He will bring his repair shop to us from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the media room.

Authors Luncheon

Patti Callahan Henry and Harris Green will be at the Lodge at Bridgemill on Thursday, September 25 at 11:30 am. The cost to attend this event is $10.00 and includes lunch. Both authors will be available after the luncheon to sign books. Fox Tale Bookstore will bring copies of Ms. Henry's books that you may purchase.l

Eye Care for the Golden Years

Dr. Michael Kroll, M.D. with Marietta Eye Clinic will be giving a seminar on Eye Care for the Golden Years on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00pm. The topic will include information on Cataracts.
