Flat and Corrugated PVC Panels with Active Hygiene


Intensive research effort by PALRAM's Technology Department has produced a new PVC cladding that offers new and unsurpassed sanitary protection. PALRAM's patent pending HYG (Active Hygiene) products feature antimicrobial protection that facilitates excellent hygiene for a wide spectrum of applications. In addition to standard PVC's proven sanitary benefits (e.g. High chemical resistance), independent lab tests confirm that PVC HYG products effectively eliminate harmful microorganisms in less than 24 hours. PALRAM's PVC cladding with HYG is now available in flat and corrugated sheet for use in a wide variety of applications requiring Active Hygiene technology.

As independent tests show, HYG products eliminate millions of microbes within 24hr. Among microbes tested are common epidemic agents who suggest effective elimination of similar bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative.) Determination of the antimicrobial efficacy of rigid PVC samples against bacteria according to modified AATCC 100 method

Method: A 50x50mm sample was inoculated with 0.1ml of microorganism culture and covered with film/glass slide to prevent evaporation. The samples were then incubated at 37 °C and >90% RH for 24hrs. Viable organisms were recovered by washing off with neutralizing fluid and serially diluting onto Tryptone Soya Agar, plates being incubated for 48hrs at 37°C

Product Availability

HYG technology can be incorporated into variety of PALRAM PVC products, and can be produced in White, Light Grey, Beige, Light Green, and Light Blue. HYG products are available immediately in PALRUF corrugated and PALOPAQUE flat sheet (See product leaflets for detailed info). Other products require minimum order quantities.

Field Testing in Hen Hatchery

Installed in a hen hatchery alongside standard rigid PVC, without cleaning operations during the test period, HYG cladding achieved a significant reduction in the total amount of microbes that appeared on the panels surface. Laboratory tests also revealed a considerable reduction of mould accumulation in HYG cladding.
