PROPAGANDA

available NOW on UPROK RECORDS

Dynamic, soulful, youth ministry focused, passionate and focused on the cross are just a few words that describe Propaganda! With an uncompromising message intertwined with hot rhythms and beats, Los Angeles based Propaganda lyrically puts together a potent and relevant album that reaches across the spectrum of youth and pop culture. Always on point lyrically, he states on his song called Time and Place that "I try to write the illest project... spray raps in the air, so it rains my thoughts... convicting the sinister... Elohim creating the emcee, helped mature me... surrendering anything hindering ministry". He is eloquently bold in the message of each song and never does shy away from a strong poetic element in his music. THE ARTIST Subject matter on the album ranges from being accountable to the Father in all we do and say as well as standing up boldly for ones faith in Christ, both in word and in ones life. He also speaks on being diligent in all things we have been blessed with as His people. "Out Of Knowhere" represents life experiences that 23 year old Jason Petty, aka Propaganda, has been through. That wealth of experience has been reflected not only in his life but also on this album. Born into a Christian family, the youngest of two, he always felt a sense of a higher calling on his life. Although he didn't consciously run from it, he didn't actively pursue it either at first. It was in his teenage years that his walk became his and not just his parents beliefs. Propaganda faced many of the challenges most African American youth faced; drugs, sex, gangs, racism, and crime. He found an outlet through Hip-Hop and the culture of the music. In addition to rap, Propaganda honed his skills in dance, graffiti art and formal drawing and painting. It wasn't until his Junior year in High School that he began to fully understand the call for his life. It was then that he began to strive towards the ministry that God has set forth for him. Putting the microphone, and shell toe Adidas on hold, Propaganda learned that hip-hop is not something to be worshiped but to channel, respect, and appreciate as a gift from the Father. He understands the need to reach with Christ's love and words. "At 16 my brother and I would put on school functions at our local church to bring in churched kids our age. At the end of each event we would have the chance to preach the Word to all those who were there", states Propaganda. THE ALBUM The first single, "Time and Place", explains that there is a time and a place for everything in life. He grew up as a fan of the crew he is now a part of, the Tunnel Rats. Now it is his time to be in music ministry and speak the profound saving truth of God's grace and love. Its his time to help show people the way on the straight and narrow path. The innovative production on the track combined with a playful delivery makes for a great single. God please don't let us lose it. On "Don't Let Us Lose It" Propaganda speak about the incredible blessings God affords us as His children. We are blessed with much in this life and Propaganda reflects on the gift of ministry he has been blessed with to minister to youth through hip-hop music. The song is full of clever poetry and wordplay. He touches on several elements of the hip-hop culture in portions of each of his three verses. We are given this culture to use it not for our own, but for the glory of Jesus Christ. Life will sometimes throw us a curve but we need to remain focused on God the Father and just keep on singing. "Keep On Singin" is about keeping our focus on Him and be joyful in all the things that come your way as a believer in Christ. Life is hard and often disappointing but we have the benefit of being able to learn from the wisdom and experience of our elders and leaders. It is a tribute to these people and the wisdom they share that youth often take for granted. Their prayers and wisdom will not fall on deaf ears! These people will continue to help mold youth and make a profound difference in their lives. Keep on singin'. OUTRO He is currently a youth pastor and leads a county wide poetry team ministry called "Selah" in addition to also helping with his sister's dance ministry called "Live", all near San Bernadino, CA. He has seen many friends as well as people struggling with drug addictions, criminal and gang activity, promiscuous sex be delivered from those things and into a relationship with Christ. Propaganda is currently on tour with several groups throughout spring and summer including Tunnel Rats, New Breed, Raphi, and LPG. The album offers a new perspective on life and music from newcomer Propaganda. "You gotta know love to know peace". Propaganda and Uprok Records proudly present his solo debut, "Out Of Knowhere".

PROPAGANDA

available NOW on UPROK RECORDS SONG EXPLANATIONS

01 - Intro 02 - Keep It Live The goal was to introduce my way of thinking. I believe God rewards diligence thus if we stay hard pressed to a real goal, especially one given by God, then He'll come through (Jude :24). 03 - I Know This was one of the more aggressive songs, rising from the same experiences Elsie and Macho had when they made their decision to be recognized Tunnel Rats. Everyone had their advice and opinions on who they thought I was and who they thought the group was. I just wanted to say I know who I am and what God spoke to me during my time. 04 - Interlude 05 - Time and Place There is a time and a place for everything. Propaganda grew up as a fan of the crew he is now a part of, the Tunnel Rats. Now it is his time to be in music ministry and speak the profound saving truth of God's grace and love. It's his time to help show people the way on the straight and narrow path! 06 - We Are (f. Sharlok Poems) We Are is about knowing and appreciating the fact that we are different. We are Gospel rappers. Let's be honest, that isn't exactly something to be proud of in the world's eyes. But hey, I'm a Tunnel Rat, we will be respected and stay true to God's calling on our lives. 07 - My Life, My Music (f. Macho) There are few things a man can love with all his heart: his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his wife and children, and his work. This is about those things. The love of my culture, my music, my calling and my God. The Spanish theme stems from my childhood. I grew up in a neighborhood 60% Latino (other forty was black and Filipino). Thus I developed a respect for their culture. 08 - You Ain't Ready Rap isn't even the tip of the iceberg. Becoming a member of the Tunnel Rats meant stepping into a heritage of unparalleled hard work, dedication, hunger for righteousness and merciless ridicule. I, like many young cats have a lot to learn about not only music but also life as a whole. This song was a testimony of what I have learned in my little time and what God is doing. 09 Interlude 10 - Don't Let Us Lose it God please don't let us lose it. We are blessed with so much in this life and Propaganda reflects on the gift of ministry he has been blessed with to minister to youth through hip-hop music. The song is full of clever poetry and wordplay. He touches on several elements of the hip-hop culture in portions of each of his three verses. We are given this culture to use it not for our own but for His glory alone. 11 - Ya Never Know (Played By The Game) (f. Raphi) A made up story it highlight how easy it is to get caught up especially as a Christian artist with good intentions. There are a lot of traps out there so if one is not careful he might get "played by the game." It's also a story about thirsting and living with righteous intentions in all that we do. 12 - Keep On Singin' (f. Dax) A tribute to the wisdom of our elders. This was in memory of the Church mothers, deacon boards, grandparents and neighborhood old folk that helped keep many of us alive. Keep your focus on Him and be joyful in all the things that come your way as a believer in Christ. 13 - We "Sketchbooks" Sometimes the choices we make can lead to the loss of friendships we thought would be long lasting. I found the closer I got to God's will the easier it was to spot my real family. These times in my life make reflect on what really keeps me pushing: Sketchbook, Notebook and Good Book (His Word). 14 - Move With Me (f. Macho) A fun hip-hop jam with a catchy hook and beat. The song is in response to the rise of Christian clubs and churches incorporating DJ.s into their services. I wanted to give Christian kids something they could dance to in a clean environment. I praise God, never praise no man. 15 - It's Just Life (John 10:9-10) Life more abundant means just that; more of life. It includes the ups and downs. You can't whine and complain when things don't go right you have got to LIVE. We must know that God is always in control.
