THGC Junior Academy Overview

One of the key objectives of the Junior Golf Academy is to provide the core coaching programme of skills, learning, practice, and play for 9-18 year old boys and girls. This will be achieved through a combination of the formal ClubGolf coaching and the introduction of regular competition days and events, throughout the summer. For the students, these competition events will be aimed at putting into practice the skills learned, develop team-working, building confidence and encouragement. For the STAGE 1 events, the onus will be on fun and enjoyment.

The secondary aim of the Junior Academy will be to continue to support students, who may not yet meet all the levels of the ClubGolf levels, but wish to develop at a recreational level through to full Junior and Adult membership of Torrance House Golf Club.

Junior Academy Costs

The cost for the 20 week program is £40 for Stage 1 and £60 for the advanced Stage 2 For beginners coming into the program at Stage 1 Level Academy Beginner, it is recognised that this may be the student's first introduction to Golf, therefore payment flexibility is set up for a `pay as you go' option. This is £2 per week for the full 20 week program, which the coach will collect on the night. If for any reason, the student wishes to leave the program during the 20 week program, you should let the coaches know, to allow the placed to be re-allocated. Once established through the first year, Levels 2 and 3, coaching costs are made in a one-off payment prior to the program start.

Junior Academy Graduation Evening

An end of season Graduation and Prize giving evening are held at Torrance House Golf Club in OCTOBER, of each year, during which the graduation certificates, prizes for the fortnightly Blue Tee and Shotgun competitions and Coaches awards, are presented. We would actively encourage all students and parents to attend as these events held to celebrate the achievements of the Academy students, meet the coaches and to see and hear the plans for the following season. The raffle prizes are well worth the effort, on their own.

Junior Academy Parent Participation

Junior Academy coaches will oversee the competitions, however it is hoped that parent volunteers will accompany the students to oversee card marking, encourage good etiquette and fair play and support the students. We only ask that parents do not accompany their own children during these events, perhaps following in a further group or from a discrete distance, if wishing to act as a spectator only.

Junior Academy Access to Club Facilities

Parents of Junior Academy students will be presented with access cards to allow access to the club facilities. This access is for coaching evenings and the Academy competition days
