SPECIFICATIONS FOR DIMMINUTORS OPEN CHANNEL COMMINUTORS MODEL DM 15 and MODEL DM 20 EACH WITH UNIVERSAL GRINDER CONTROLLERS

The two (2) units shall be one (1) model DM 15 and one (1) DM 20 Open Channel Comminutors each supplied with a universal grinder controller equal to ones manufactured by Franklin Miller, Inc., Livingston, New Jersey, or equal, meeting the following requirements The unit shall be configured with a motor which shall be located above possible high water level. (See attached drive option specifications) 1. MECHANISM: Three (3) multiple tuned cutters mounted angularly on support arms of a single rotor shall sweep oversized solids from a special concave semicircular screen in a continuous 360 degree rotation and shred them against (3) stationary cutters. The screen and cutters shall be designed so that the rotating cutters PENETRATE INTO THE SLOT OPENINGS OF THE SCREEN TO POSITIVELY CLEAR THEM OF DEBRIS. The screen shall be removable in sections which are interchangeable. The solids shall be chopped and shredded to a size small enough to pass through the sizing screen. The screen and cutters shall be easily unbolted for repair or replacement without requiring removal of the drive and shaft. The cutters screen, and hardware shall be constructed of stainless steel. The rotating and stationary cutters shall be stainless steel hardened for long life. The stationary cutters shall be adjustable by means of an eccentric adjuster mechanism. Cutters shall be removable from the machine without requiring removal of unit from channel. Plastic screens shall not be acceptable. The rotating cutters shall be designed to be interchangeable and rotatable for maximum life so that the lower cutters, exposed to the highest concentration of solids and abrasive material can be interchanged for maximum cutter life and minimum wear. 2. DESIGN: The unit shall have continuous available torque and smooth 360 degree rotation. The performance of the machine shall be the same for either direction of rotation. There shall be a high percentage of open area to stream flow. Cutting action shall take place over at least two thirds of the screen height. The unit shall be designed for continuous 24 hour a day service and shall use an efficient low speed, high torque gear reducer. 3. CONFIGURATION: Installs into straight-through rectangular channel. Designed to be bolted to the bottom of the channel by two (2) studs projecting from a sole plate. Alternate installation configuration would be sliding vertically into a channel slot defined by steel L brackets. In this configuration it shall not be necessary to bolt or otherwise affix the unit to the structure. The Comminutor shall be easily removed for periodic servicing without need to enter the sewage stream. The Comminutor shall be constructed with a single heavy duty rotating shaft supported on roller bearings which shall be protected by a set of mechanical seals and permanently lubricated with oil. The drive shall be mounted to a ground steel plate for accurate alignment. Drive, motor, mechanical seals, bearings, cutters, and screens shall be removable without requiring removal of entire unit from channel. No bearings or seals shall be located below the cutters.

4. BEARINGS: The DIMMINUTOR shall have heavy roller bearings permanently oil lubricated and protected from sewage by mechanical seals. 5. MECHANICAL SEAL: A. PRIMARY SEALS - The primary seals shall feature elastomeric members which operate as opposing disk springs when compressed and at the same time keeping the faces of the two metallic rings together insuring positive sealing. No metal springs shall be used. B. LABYRINTH RINGS - The contact-less labyrinth rings shall be supplied to further protect from coarse and fine granular contaminants. 6. PAINTING: Description - Tnemec Series 66 Hi-Build Epoxoline (Epoxy Polyamide ) Color - Blue Finish - Satin Two coats will be applied: Prime & Top. 7. MOTOR: A. SUBMERSIBLE MOTORS - The machine shall be powered by a 3 H.P. Explosion-Proof CFace Submersible Motor. This motor shall be suitable for continuous or intermittent submerged and / or dry service. The motor shall be 1750 RPM, 3 phase, 60 Hertz, and 460 volt. The motor shall be for Class 1, Groups C and D, Division 1 environment. It shall be supplied with a moisture detector and a heat sensor. It shall have Class F insulation, a 1.0 service factor and Class B temperature rise. The motor shall be directly coupled to the gear reducer using a watertight motor adapter. The motor shall be connected via a flexible coupling to the reducer input. The reducer shall be fully sealed and capable of operating submerged continuously. A one way breather shall be incorporated that shall not allow water within the reducer interior. A coupling adaptor shall be used having registers for accurate alignment and smooth operation. The coupling adapter shall be sealed to prevent water contamination. The adapter shall be firmly connected to the input of the reducer and shall rigidly support the submersible motor weight. The reducer shall have a rigid input shaft supported by heavy bearings capable of handling thrust and radial loads and shock conditions. 8. QUALIFICATION: In order to be qualified for substitution of specified unit, a unit of same size and model as under this contract proposed by supplier must be proven in service for at least seven years. A reference of five installations must be provided.

SPECIFICATION FOR UNIVERSAL GRINDER CONTROLLER 1. PARTS 1 - PRODUCTS 1.01 A GENERAL: The controller shall be a Universal Grinder Control as manufactured by Franklin Miller Inc. of Livingston, NJ. The control shall provide an automatic jam sensing and cycling feature plus the ability to change programs and system options in the field without the need for reprogramming or rewiring. The control shall contain circuit breaker, reversing combination starters, fuses, control transformer, power supply, programmable logic controller, current detector and printed circuit boards with options receptacles and all necessary relays and terminals. The control shall be a UL 508 listed and labeled industrial controller. 1.02 FEATURES: Features provided with the US (Universal Control) shall be: Selectable S250 or S260 programs - Two programs shall be available as follows: 1 S250 PROGRAM: The controller shall sense an overload current indicating a jam condition. The grinder shall stop, then pause and reverse rotation. An "Alarm" light shall be illuminated after 4 overloads. The controller shall reset if no overloads occur for 30 seconds. S260 PROGRAM: The controller shall sense overload currents indicating a jam condition. The grinder shall stop, momentarily reverse, and resume normal operation. The controller shall reset if no overloads occur for 30 seconds. Self-test feature. This function shall provide a test of control features including proper functioning of indicator lights and trip lights. Submersible Motor Compatibility: The control shall have the ability to accommodate an optional Submersible Motor without rewiring or reprogramming. Low Voltage Phase Monitor Compatibility: The control shall have the ability to accommodate an optional low voltage and faze monitor without rewiring or reprogramming.

1.03 A

COMPONENTS: The controller shall be provided as follows: HOUSING: NEMA 4x FRAP enclosure suitable for indoor and outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against corrosion, wind blown dust and rain, splashing water and hose directed water, and undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure. LOCKABLE DISCONNECT: The control shall be provided with a through the door built-in padlock lockable, disconnect circuit breaker. THREE-POSITION SELECTOR SWITCH: A three position "Hand-Off-Auto" switch shall control the mode of operation. STARTERS: The control shall be provided with ICE type full line voltage reversing starters. CURRENT SENSOR: The controller shall incorporate a solid-state factory preset current sensor adjustable by a rotary pot with a range of 5 to 115 amps. PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC): A programmable logic control shall control all system functions. In the event of a power failure or system failure, the PLC shall have a memory to resume operation or activate the last alarm. FUSE PROTECTION: Three fuses shall protect the control voltage - one on the secondary (low voltage) side and two on primary (high voltage) side. DRY CONTACTS: Two sets of contacts shall be provided as follows: 1 2 FAIL signal output RUN signal output INDICATOR LIGHTS: Long-lasting LED indicator lights shall be provided with a design rating of 100,000 hours.
