Midex System Bottom Hung


The Midex System Bottom Hung window is designed to provide a drained, thermally broken window system. All fabrication is in accordance with the technical manual, B.S.4873 and other applicable trade standards and codes of practice.


Windows are supplied from a range of sections that incorporate a polyurethane resin fill to provide an efficient thermal break. For non-thermally broken conditions the resin fill can be omitted. Single element, integral units incorporating bottom hung vents and fixed lights as well as coupled units can be manufactured using a variety of insulated coupling members. A curtain walling adaptor section is also available to allow the windows to be used as inserts in most proprietary curtain walling systems. Incorporating a 3 seal weather barrier, the third centre seal prevents cold air bridging the integral thermal break. This eliminates the possibility of heat loss via the internal drainage route.

Frame members are mitred and assembled using screwed, crimped and cleated corner blocks. Stainless steel chevrons are used on every mitred corner. All corners and junctions of tee bars sealed with high performance joint sealant. The whole composite window is prepared for drainage from all glazed areas, with weep hole covers being fitted where appropriate.


Internal glazing is standard, with fixed lights being available in both internal and external glazed conditions to accommodate spandrel panels. Available in both single and double glazed conditions accepting sealed units up to 28mm. Glazing by means of captive and wedge gaskets is standard

Sobinco hinges are supplied as standard. Spring catch fitted at the head. A restricting stay is fitted to limit the opening to approximately 150mm (dependent upon window height).


A variety of finishes are available Polyester powder coating to BS 6496:1984. Available in all standard colours. Matt finish as standard with a 25 year Syntha Pulvin guarantee. Application by an approved Syntha Pulvin applicator operating a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9002. Anodised in a variety of colours including natural, bronze and black to BS 1615:1987 or BS 3987:1991. Standard mill finish.


Aluminium profiles extruded from aluminium alloy 6063 T6, in accordance with BS 1474:1987 Stainless steel screw fasteners in accordance with BS 6105:1981 Non stainless fasteners suitably rustproofed in accordance with BS 4873. Weather seals manufactured from EPDM rubber in accordance with BS 4255. Hardware specifications will be those provided by the individual manufacturers.


Tested to the exacting standards of BS 5368, the Midex System Top Hung window meets the performance specification requirements of BS 6375 part 1:1989. Air permeability Wind resistance Water tightness Thermal properties Pass 600 Pa Pass 1600 Pa Pass 600 Pa 3.19+/- 0.2 W/m K


The Midex System Bottom Hung window system is internally glazed, and capable of accommodating concealed multi-point locking if required.
