General Description Truly's camera module for notebook 5.0MP is a 5.0 Mega-Pixel,USB 2.0 high-speed camera module designed to provide high quality colorful videos and still images,for instant visual communication applications on a notebook platform. The camera module is a sensor on board module designed for notebook application where low power consumption and small size are of utmost importance. It combines the CMOS sensor and platform for high quality camera products. . VC0346TLNB Description VC0346TLNBC is Vimicro s latest PC Camera Processor family member offering high quality features and small form factor design that is specially targeted for attachable PC camera and notebook embedded camera markets for high-end system configuration. With a programmable sensor master clock output, VC0346TLNBC can support any common CMOS image sensors, ranging from VGA to 5.0 Mega pixel resolutions. Being fully compliant with the increased bandwidth of USB 2.0 High-Speed (HS) protocol, VC0346TLNBC can produce uncompressed high quality video stream at 30fps for VGA and is capable of capture still images at up to 5.0 Mega pixels resolution. VC0346TLNBC will be implemented using the OTP memory to store its internal firmware and it can also support firmware patch function using external EEPROM and internal code RAM. These features will give PC camera makers the ultimate flexibility when trying to customize their own firmware. VC0346TLNBC is a UVC device that will work with Operating Systems that supports the UVC standard, such as Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) and Vista, without the need to install the Vimicro driver. However to provide for additional powerful functions such as special image effects, the Vimicro UVC driver needs to be installed for these functions to work. The following tables show the main video operation modes that VC0346TLNA supports:

Note: 1)8-bit and 10-bit Bayer raw data formats are also supported by VC0346TLNBC when using the Vimicro UVC driver. 2)RGB24 data format is only supported when using the Vimicro UVC driver. 3) MJPEG sensors are supported by VC0346TLNBC and it will pass the MJPEG data to host NB/PC without any other processing and compression. 1. Sensor Interface (SIF) Unit The sensor interface (SIF) acts as the bridge between the external sensor and the USB controller UDC) inside the VC0346TLNBC chip. To the sensor side, the SIF receives 10-bit image data and synchronous signals from the sensor and outputs control signals to it. The synchronous signals from different sensors may vary from one to another. The SIF uniforms the synchronous signals and forwards them together with the image data to UDC / JPEG HEADER. Some of the features supported by SIF are: Support 10-bit Bayer pattern and YUV422 data format from sensor Generate sync signals for UDC, whose width and polarity are programmable Image window size adjustable Support parallel JPEG data transfer 2. JPEG HEADER The JPEG HEADER module adds some standard JPEG data segments to the JPEG data that came from the SIF module, and then the JPEG HEADER transfers the whole JPEG frame data to the UDC module. 3. USB2.0 Controller and PHY Unit

This unit transfers the image data at very high speed to the host through an on-chip PHY. This unti provides a USB 2.0 compliant interface. It also contains a controller, which deals with USB transfer protocol, and the video function interface of the device. The USB 2.0 unit supports three kinds of transfer: control transfer, isochronous transfer and interrupt transfer. Suspend and Resume functions are supported by this unit also.

Micro-Controller Unit

VC0346TLNBC contains an embedded 8051 core compatible micro-controller. It is a fully functional 8-bit embedded controller that executes all ASM51 instructions the same as the 80C31. Besides a 256 bytes internal ram to implement register bank and SFR of 8051 MCU core, a 2Kb on-chip RAM is configured as the external data memory. Third party application and image processing firmware can be stored in the on-chip ROM for a cost-effective solution. The available code size includes 32Kb OTP ROM and 2Kb SRAM. An external EEPROM will be used to store the customized settings. 5. Serial Interface Controller

2-wire serial interface is supported by VC0346TLNBC.

and clock control. When the chip is in suspend mode, the clock oscillator will be shut down and peripheral power is shut down to make the suspend current less than 500uA. USB reset, resume signals can make the device exit from this state. 7. Audio The audio unit is used to transport the audio data from external devices to host PC through the USB interface. The original input from the analog microphone is convert it into 16-bit PCM data, and after digital volume adjustment, the processed audio data is sent to UDC audio FIFO and then sent to host (PC or Notebook). The audio unit in VC0346TLNBC has the following features: Support 1 differential analog microphone input or line-in input One channel 14-bit Sigma-Delta ADC with fully differential design 70dB SNR and 0.2% THD+N Programmable AGC (Auto Gain Control) from 0dB to 39dB at 1.5dB step Built in microphone bias: programmable 2.2V, 2.0V, or 1.53V Digital volume control / mute: -45dB 45dB in increments of 1dB 16-bit PCM format output to UDC Support 8-48KHz ADC direct clock sampling rates, the frequency of ADC sampling clock is 128*Fs (8K, 11.025K, 12K, 16K, 22.05K, 24K, 32K, 44.1K,48K) Master clock frequencies: 256*Fs 8. OTP ROM OTP ROM stands for One Time Programmable ROM. When operating in normal mode Read Only operations) the minimal access time is 25ns; when operating in programming mode the power supply must be at least 6.5V and the programming time is 1us/BYTE.

Feature

The MT9P111 has a color image sensor with a Bayer color filter arrangement and a 5Mp active-pixel array with electronic rolling shutter (ERS). The sensor core readout is 12-bit, supports skipping and binning, and can be flipped and/or mirrored. The sensor core also supports separate analog and digital gain for all four color channels (R, Gr, Gb, B). The MT9P111 also has an embedded phase-locked loop oscillator (PLL) that can generate the internal sensor clock from the common clock signals available in typical mobile phone systems. When in use, the PLL adjusts the incoming clock frequency up, allowing the MT9P111 to run at almost any desired resolution and frame rate within the sensor's capabilities. The PLL can be bypassed and powered down to reduce power consumption. The MT9P111 has numerous power-conserving features including a soft standby mode and a hard standby mode. In standby mode, the sensor can be configured to consume less power than normal operation, with the option of retaining a limited amount of the

internal configuration settings. By default, entering standby disables the internal VDD power rail. In addition, there is a SHUTDOWN mode that will disable the power supplies in order to achieve the lowest power consumption possible. The MT9P111 can be used with either a serial MIPI interface or the parallel data output interface, which has a programmable I/O slew rate to minimize EMI and an output FIFO to eliminate output data bursts. JPEG format can be output in both the MIPI and the parallel data output interfaces. EXIF, MIPI data type support is also included, along with Scalado support. The advanced image flow processor (IFP) and flexible programmability of the MT9P111 provide a variety of ways to enhance and optimize the image sensor performance. Built-in optimization algorithms enable the MT9P111 to operate at factory settings as a fully automatic, highly adaptable camera; however, most of its settings are user-program-mable. These algorithms include black level conditioning, shading correction, defect correction, noise reduction, color interpolation, color correction, aperture correction, and image formatting such as cropping and scaling. The MT9P111 also includes a sequencer that coordinates all events triggered by the user. The sequencer manages auto focus, auto white balance, flicker detection, anti-shake, and auto exposure for the different operating modes, which include preview, still capture, video, and snapshot with flash. All modes of operation are individually configurable and are organized as two contexts. A context is defined by sensor image size, frame rate, resolution, and other associated parameters. The user can switch between the two contexts by sending a command through the two-wire serial interface. A two-wire serial register interface bus enables read/write access to control registers, variables, and special function registers within the MT9P111. The hardware registers include sensor core controls, color pipeline controls, and output controls. The general purpose VGPIO can be configured to allow the user extended platform functionality or achieve a 10-bit parallel Bayer output.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USING CCM MODULES

Handing Precautions

--DO NOT try to open the unit enclosure as there is no user-serviceable component inside. To prevent damage to the camera module by electrostatic discharge, handling the camera module only after discharging all static electricity from yourself and ensuring a static-free environment for the camera module. --DO NOT touch the top surface of the lens. --DO NOT press down on the lens. --DO NOT try to focus the lens. --DO NOT put the camera module in a dusty environment. --To reduce the risk of electrical shock and damage to the camera module, turn off the power before connect and disconnect the camera module. --DO NOT drop the camera module more than 60 cm onto any hard surface. --DO NOT expose camera module to rain or moisture. --DO NOT expose camera module to direct sunlight. --DO NOT put camera in a high temperature environment. --DO NOT use liquid or aerosol cleaners to clean the lens. --DO NOT make any charges or modifications to camera module. --DO NOT subject camera module to strong electromagnetic field. --DO NOT subject the camera module to excessive vibration or shock. --DO NOT Impact or nip CCM module with spiculate things --DO NOT alter, modify or change the shape of the tab on the metal frame. --DO NOT make extra holes on the printed circuit board, modify its shape or change the positions of components to be attached. --DO NOT damage or modify the pattern writing on the printed circuit board. --Absolutely DO NOT modify the zebra rubber strip (conductive rubber) or heat seal connector --Except for soldering the interface, DO NOT make any alterations or modifications with a soldering iron. --DO NOT twist FPC of CCM.

(1) If soldering flux is used, be sure to remove any remaining flux after finishing to soldering operation. (This does not apply in the case of a non-halogen type of flux.) It is recommended that you protect the lens surface with a cover during soldering to prevent any damage due to flux spatters. (2) The CCM module and board should not be detached more than three times. This maximum number is determined by the temperature and time conditions mentioned above, though there may be some variance depending on the temperature of the soldering iron.

Limited Warranty

Unless agreed between TRULY and customer, TRULY will replace or repair any of its CCM modules which are found to be functionally defective when inspected in accordance with TRULY CCM acceptance standards for a period of one year from date of shipments. Cosmetic/visual defects must be returned to TRULY within 90 days of shipment. Confirmation of such date shall be based on freight documents. The warranty liability of TRULY limited to repair and/or replacement on the terms set forth above. TRULY will not be responsible for any subsequent or consequential events.

Return CCM under warranty

No warranty can be granted if the precautions stated above have been disregarded. The typical examples of violations are: -Holder is apart from module. -Holder or Connector is anamorphic. -Connector is turnup. -FPC is lacerated or discon-nexion, and so on. Module repairs will be invoiced to the customer upon mutual agreement. Modules must be returned with sufficient description of the failures or defects. Any connectors or cable installed by the customer must be removed completely without damaging the PCB eyelet, conductors and terminals.
