Announcing our Summer Season!

(something old and something new; a little bit of this, a little bit of that)

It's A Guy Thing

Returns to the Tully Stage Saturday, July 9!

Last summer, 60 of Tully's finest performing gentlemen and a bevy of talented Tully beauties joined forces to present IT'S A GUY THING, an original musical revue written for our town saluting, celebrating, and occasionally roasting the male gender in song and dance. The music included Broadway tunes, jazz, rock-n-roll, classic pop, big band and folk tunes, as well as original songs. There were six thematic sections in the revue: Man as Wolf, Man vs. Woman Part I, Man as Soldier, Man vs. Woman Part II, Man as Father and Man as Dreamer. We will be reprising the show this summer. The middle show in our 2010 Summer of Giving, IT'S A GUY THING was a benefit to raise the contents of care packages for a division of Fort Drum soldiers who were stationed at the time in Afghanistan. That division has since come home, and has been invited to send down members to see the show that brought them into our awareness, so that we might honor them, thank them for their service, and entertain them. We hope you will take the time to come and see the show, to meet some of our men and women in uniform, and join us at a reception welcoming them home. IT'S A GUY THING will be performed ONE NIGHT ONLY, Saturday, July 9th, at 7 PM at the Tully High School Auditorium. Tickets include the reception as well as the show and can be purchased at Encore Video for a discount or at the door.

See inside for details on our other summer show, and how you can be a part of it!

Thank you! The Council thanks everyone who helped us in the planning and presentation of Tully's Memorial Day ceremonies. It was a beautiful day, we got lucky once again with the weather, and we are happy we could support our local American Legion veterans in organizing this year's observance. Thank you!

Plans For Summer 2012 Next year, summer 2012 will hold a special opportunity for TCA in the department of performing arts. If all goes well and the crick don't rise, we will be presenting the musical extravaganza HAIRSPRAY in collaboration with Theatre Unbounded, a group of performers from the city of Syracuse. HAIRSPRAY will be presented one weekend in Tully, and the second weekend in a major venue in Syracuse. This Tonyaward-winning show wowed Broadway for more than 2600 performances and continues to be a hit around the world. This is going to be a fantastic opportunity for our Council to be a part of, as collaboration of this sort is unique in the theater business! Watch for word on auditions next spring, and for updates between now and then.

It's Never Too Early to Plan Ahead! Even now, as the heat of summer blasts-- er, caresses--us all, TCA is making plans for this year's Fall Festival of the Arts. If you or your organization are interested in helping out, hosting an event or being part of Fall Fest, please send an inquiry to [email protected] With your help, we can make this free festival even bigger and better!
