Bond is fully refundable. *To hire a violin it will be necessary to complete a 'violin hire' form **Please allow approximately 1 week from our receiving completed hire form to receiving instrument. **Please note: We normally prefer to give children their violin in Week 3 of term to allow sufficient preliminary tuition on posture, technique and care of the violin. (A violin will be available in class for this period of time.) SECOND HAND: We have hire instruments that periodically are sold and new ones purchased. When these are available we will advise parents (probably when invoices for term fees are posted out). We also have a notice board that is available for anyone wanting to sell/buy an instrument. If you wish to sell an instrument, please forward to us in writing the instrument make and model, age, general condition and price, along with your name and contact number. PLEASE also let us know when it is sold - so we may remove the note from the board.

Since graduating from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in 1975, Richard Price (the founder of Violin Sports) has performed as Soloist, Concertmaster and First Violinist with orchestras such as; the internationally famous Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the international Festival Chamber Orchestra of Luzern, the Allgemeine Musick Geselleschaft Orchester of Luzern, the Aargauishes Symphoniker Orchester in Switzerland also in many operas, ballets and in chamber music concerts in Europe and Australia. He is also one of the rare classically trained violinists who is able to perform and improvise in other modern styles of music such as jazz and blues. Richard, who has studied violin with some of the great masters in Europe, has taught violin in Australia and Europe for the last 30 years. He has borrowed from the world's best teaching methods and amalgamated these excellent traditional methods with a more 20th Century approach including jazz, popular and folk music, as well as some concepts of sports training. Quote: "When I was learning as a child there was no one able to teach me the sort of music I wanted to play. I had to teach myself. I want my students to have the option of learning the style of their choice."

Our main objective is to have children enjoying and wanting to learn violin, guitar or keyboard and for them to have good self esteem and have `FUN' learning. So much more can be achieved if children themselves keenly want to learn. Children practise more readily, are more focussed and learn faster. Group Lessons: Classes are highly motivating. Groups offer companionship in learning and encourage students to maintain a level equal to their peers, whilst keeping a strong emphasis on fun in learning. Children will learn to read music in steps which are simple to grasp and flow on easily to reading music. Lessons are 1/2 hr for a min. of 4-6 children once a week. For groups less than 4 there will be an adjustment in duration of lesson. Lessons are held at our private studio situated at 123 Forrest Street, North Perth. We also teach at many Perth schools. Private Lessons: Individual lessons vary from 15min private to 1 hour in length. Enrolments: Enrolments are taken at the beginning of each school term. To enrol - please complete enrolment form and post to above address together with fees for one term's tuition, music book & cd. We will be guided by your preference for day & time as indicated by your completed enrolment form, or by a set day & time as arranged with school. We will start a group as soon as we have received enough enrolment forms to start a group. Acquiring an instrument: Purchase or hire, violin, guitar or keyboard. Please see back of brochure for details Parent Involvement: Your support is central to your child's success. We find if parents assist on a daily basis with their child's practice, that children are more willing to practise and are also guided to the correct way. We request parents attend lessons where possible. It is best to adopt correct playing posture and technique right from the start with your assistance, rather than letting wrong posture become habit which is difficult to correct. It is essential that practice time is fun (through the use of games and activities) - it is more important for the student to return to the instrument with joy and enthusiasm tomorrow than to force a few few extra minutes today. Together parent, child & teacher create a fun, loving, nurturing and positive environment in lessons and during daily practice at home.
