Therefore, suction work is possible anywhere that there is an electric source available. · The nozzle and heating core have been specially designed so solder can be absorbed in the filter while it is still in the molten state. Consequently maintenance time has been reduced and work efficiency improved. · To clean, simply pull the knob to remove the filter pipe. The filter pipe is made of heat-proof transparent glass, therefore the accumulation of solder can be easily checked from the outside.

Tip Maintenance

· During Use

Clean old solder from the tip just before performing soldering operations. When a cleaning sponge is used, be sure to soak the sponge in water and wring it out well before using. When soldering operations are temporarily interrupted, apply fresh solder to the tip and place the soldering iron on the soldering iron holder without cleaning the tip.

· After Use

When soldering operations are complete, clean old solder from the tip and turn the temperature controller down (about 250ºC) or, for soldering irons with no temperature controller, unplug the power cord. Then wait a short while before applying fresh solder to the tip. When the solder is applied while the temperature of the tip is low, it forms a thick layer that prevents the tip from oxidizing.

Tip Cleaning Procedure 1. Clean old solder from the

tip completely.

2. Temperature down and

apply fresh solder to the tip.

3. Complete. (Turn the

switch off.)

· When the Tip is Worn

When the tip end becomes black or turns red with rust, then the tip will repel the solder and be inconvenience for proper soldering. When this layer of oxidation cannot be removed with the cleaning sponge, remove it with fine sand paper (#800 to #1200) and then apply fresh solder to the tip at low temperature. Caution: Do not apply coarse sand paper or machining to the tip.

CAUTION

When seeking tip replacements, select only `HAKKO' soldering iron tips that are intended for your particular model of soldering iron. If an incompatible tip or a tip made by another manufacturer is used, the original performance of the soldering iron may not be obtained. Furthermore, the heater unit may be overloaded resulting in failure.
