Rethink Church Train the Trainers

Led by the National Rethink Church team, this two-day event will train East & West Ohio clergy or lay people who are interested in leading welcoming workshops for districts and local churches in Ohio. Academy For Spiritual FormationTM (Two Year)

A three-year covenant learning environment emphasizing holistic spirituality with daily rhythms of study and prayer, rest and exercise, solitude and relationships in a Christian community. Dates: August 2009, July 2010 Info: www.upperroom.org/academy

School of Christian Mission

Academy For Spiritual FormationTM (Five Day)

The annual School of Christian Mission is a one, three, or four day in depth discussion and learning about key mission areas. Held at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, this year's theme is "Together at the Table", tracks are "Food & Faith", "Native American Survival", "The Beauty & Courage of Sudan". Boot Camp

School for Congregational Development

The United Methodist School of Congregational Development is an annual event aimed at helping annual conferences and congregations "grow the church" through new congregational starts and the strengthening of existing congregations. Dates: July 29-August 2 Info: www.gbod.org/SCD

Certification Studies

Starting Well

Certification in specialized ministry offered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, for individuals seeking professional or paraprofessional certification because of a desire to serve the church with excellence. Taste & See Spiritual Formation Series

Certified Lay Ministry Academy

Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Training

Change the World

Volunteers in Mission are local church volunteers who are called by God and sent in mission on work teams. VIM includes construction, medical and educational teams. Training for team leadership is held periodically throughout Ohio. Info: www.westohioumc.org/VIM

A leadership conference held annually by Ginghamsburg UMC in Tipp City, Ohio, with workshops, teaching sessions, and learning experiences for clergy and laity ready to learn how to have a missional focus in church ministry. Dates: October 22-23, 2009 Info: www.ginghamsburg.org/changetheworld.

Web Empowered Church

Chrysalis

Web ministry workshop for local churches starting a web ministry. Led by Mark Stephenson of Web Empowered Church, 1/2 day of the workshop is on creating a web ministry in your local church, 1/2 day is hands on learning with the Web Empowered Church free software. Church by Size Seminars

Kairos

Five seminars designed to help pastors and lay teams understand the unique and important ministry each size church offers. Uses a systems perspective to making each size ministry effective and dynamic. Info: www.bishopruebenjobcenter.org

Kairos is an ecumenical Christian ministry designed for use in men's and women's correctional institutions. The ministry is conducted by teams of laity and clergy who are qualified by their experiences in Christian renewal movements. Info: www.kairosohio.org

Coach Training & Certification

Coaching, both individuals and teams, is an investment in leaders. West Ohio Conference offers a coaching certification process to become a conference certified coach. Lay Speaking Ministries

Disaster Response Training

Led by inspirational UM pastor, Adam Hamilton, Church of the Resuurrection's annual Leadership Institute is a conference designed to share practical, translatable principles that have been keys to the growth of the church. Leadership Summit 2009 (Willow Creek)

Emmaus

The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program for Christian disciples and leaders. The 72 hour short course in Christianity is grounded theologically and institutionally in the Upper Room ministry. There are sixteen communities in West Ohio that host these weekends. A leadership event produced by the Willow Creek Association and bringing together leaders in over 140 locations across North America for networking and training events. Natural Church Development (NCD)

Epiphany

An ecumenical Christian ministry for young men and women in the custody of juvenile justice facilities. Each Epiphany weekend involves a team of adults and youth from the Christian community who work together to show the Love of God to those attending. Info: www.ephiphanyministry.com
