Divisions:

there are three divisions for exhibits to compete: master division, professional division and novice division. a class determines the criteria used to judge an exhibit. > masTer this is the most difficult division. Judgement of exhibits is carried out by three jurors in the Master Division. Judgement is carried out to the strictest of criteria. For this reason it is only possible to become `World Taxidermy Champion 2012' in the masTer diVision. > proFessional the Professional Division is for taxidermists looking to compete with other taxidermists to see just how good their work really is. the jury is responsible for passing judgment on the standard of exhibits. > noViCe noviCE DiviSion is for beginners, youths and children who have already gathered some experience within the world of taxidermy. the learning aspect is of greatest importance within this division.

CategoRies:

Participants determine the skill level expected of their exhibit(s) themselves, by choosing the right division for their exhibits (Master, Professional or novice). allocation into categories is determined by exhibit(s) submitted. Category divisions in the Professional Division and novice Division are the same, as novice Division is seen as preparation for subsequent competitions. the World Champion title is only awarded in the most difficult of the three skill divisions, the MaStEr DiviSion. World titles will be awarded if there is a deserving entry (see guideline 6) in each of the Master Division categories. a first, second, and third place ribbon is possible in each available subcategory. in categories in which there are subcategories, the judges will select `Best in World` from winners of first place ribbons. to become a `World taxidermy Champion 2012', and to receive a medal, it is necessary to gain a minimum of 90 points. if there is a category in which no contestant achieves a minimum score of 90 points, the title `World taxidermy Champion 2012` will not be awarded.

For more detailed information on the jury go to www.wtc-2012.com! there will also be a fascinating series of seminars to accompany the world championships. For full, completely up-to-date information go to www.wtc-2012.com.

to challenge for the Competitors' award it is necessary to enter at least four exhibits in either the Masters Division or Professional Division. Exhibits can be submitted in any category (all four in one category or each exhibit in its own suitable category). imporTanT: When participating for the Competitors' award the decision has to be made whether to participate in the Master Division or Professional Division. The exhibits are judged on the criteria of artistic merit, anatomical accuracy, originality and difficulty. if two competitors have the same number of points the prize will be shared equally between the competitors with the same total.

CoMPetitoRs' aWaRD RUles

The points of the four best exhibits submitted within the division are added together. The seven best taxidermists are selected for the final round in which four exhibits are put together and labelled from a to G. The entries are then re-evaluated by all the jurors of the corresponding categories in a new analysis and the winner is then selected.

Competitors take part at their own risk. the organizer has arranged optional insurance (see registration form). 6. divisions and Categories: there are three divisions for exhibits to compete: Master Division, Professional Division and novice Division. World titles can only be won in the Masters Divisions. The master division is the most difficult division. Each exhibit in the Master Division will be judged by three judges on one score sheet. Best in World titles are only awarded in the main categories, not in subcategories such as 1.a and 1.b. in categories with no subcategories the highest scoring entry with a score of 90 or higher will win the gold medal (Best in World), second highest a silver medal (Second in World) and third highest a bronze medal (third in World). in categories with subcategories a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbon will be awarded to the three highest scoring entries that meet the criteria and Best in World will be selected by the judges from first place winners in the subcategories. Second and third in World will be selected from remaining eligible ribbon winners. a mount must score at least a 90 in the Master Division to be eligible to win a Best in World, Second in World or a third in World. if there is no mount scoring at least a 90 in that category, there will be no World title awarded. the Master Division is a single ribbon division. this means only a first, second and third place ribbon is possible in the individual categories and subcategories. an entry still must score high enough to be worthy of a ribbon. in some cases, the first, second and third place winners may all score in the 90s, however, if a category or subcategory has one mount scoring in the 90s and the next highest scoring mount is in the 70's, then there will only be a first and a third place awarded (the second place will not be awarded). in the Master Division a competitor cannot "sweep" a category or subcategory. if he/she has more that one entry in a category only his or her highest scoring entry in that category or subcategory will receive a placing. the same "no sweep" rule also applies to Best in World titles within a category. the exhibits (entries) in the Collective artist Category of the Master Division are judge by different criteria than other exhibits (entries) in the Master Division categories. the rules for completing these exhibits are also different. Please read 7b for more information on the Collective artist category. The professional division is considered a division for advanced taxidermist and not for beginning taxidermist. Each exhibit (entry) will be judged separately and independently by one of the jury members. The novice division is for beginners, youths and children who have already gathered some experience within the world of taxidermy and who wish to gain more experience by competing as exhibitors. the learning aspect of taxidermy is of greatest importance within this division. Very important: Competitors may not compete in the same category in different divisions. For example, if you enter in Category 10 Fish (skin Mounts) in the Master Division you cannot enter this same category in the Professional Division. You may compete in both the Master and Professional Divisions but not in the same category of both.
